Intranet Development

Problem:

Good news travels fast and when one of our consultants discovered a process change that would increase production without cost he was hit with an overwhelming number of requests for more information. Several times the work of this consultant was interrupted to assist in yet another educational experience. (Technology transfer - a good thing).

Solution:

The information to effect the desired change was published on an Internal Internet (Intranet - Now commonly known as a Corporate Wiki, or Portal). This is like an Internet inside a company. The Intranet was set up with several pages of information in various layouts. On the Q&A page were several questions the consultant had been asked along with the answers. The current status of assignments was also published here to provide 24 hour access.
Future questions and answers were posted to the intranet and the time and sanity of the consultant was spared.
